Veganism isn’t about giving up your favorite foods or holidays, its about taking the cruelty out of them! I’ve been Vegan for three years and every Thanksgiving meal is even more delicious than the last! Here are some Vegan recipes to mix and match, try all at once, or experiment with this fall.

Option One


Vegan Shepard’s Pie



1 medium onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 1/2 cups uncooked brown or green lentils, rinsed and drained
4 cups vegetable stock
2 tsp fresh thyme or 1 tsp dried thyme
1 10-ounce bag frozen mixed veggies: peas, carrots, green beans and corn

Mashed potatoes:

3 pounds yukon gold potatoes, thoroughly washed
3-4 Tbsp vegan butter
Salt and pepper to taste

Pumpkin cupcakes


⅓ cup vegan butter
¾ cup white granulated sugar
¾ cup pumpkin purée
6 tbsp plant based milk
1 tbsp vanilla extract
2 tsp pumpkin spice
2 tsp baking powder
1¼ cup flour
¼ tsp salt


½ cup dairy-free cream cheese
½ cup vegan butter
2 cups powdered sugar
1 tsp clear vanilla flavouring
a pinch of pumpkin spice.

Pumpkin spice smoothie

½ cup pumpkin puree
1 frozen banana
1 cup plant based milk
1 tablespoon pure maple syrup
¼ tsp vanilla
¼ tsp cinnamon
1/8 tsp nutmeg
1/8 tsp allspice
½ cup ice

Option Two:

Vegan turk*y roast


One 14 oz block of extra firm tofu
1/3 cup sunflower oil
1 3/4 tsp seasoned salt
1 1/2 tsp nutritional yeast flakes
1/2 tsp sugar
3/4 tsp lemon juice
2 1/2 tsp Bragg’s liquid aminos or soy sauce (not kikkimo they animal test)
2 tsp sage
1/4 tsp savory
1 cup gluten flour

Pecan pie


1¼ c flour
½ tsp salt
6 Tbsp shortening, chilled
1.5 Tbsp vegan butter, chilled
3-5 Tbsp ice water
1.5 c pecan halves
½ Tbsp vegan butter
pinch of salt
10 saltines, crumbled
½ c water
2½ Tbsp vegan butter
1¼ c sugar
¼ c light corn syrup
2 tsp vanilla
3 Tbsp applesauce or pumpkin puree
3 Tbsp corn or tapioca starch

Vanilla Banana Chai Smoothie


1/2 cup chai concentrate*
1/2 cup vanilla almond milk
1 organic banana
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 handful of ice

Sweetener of your choice, to taste, if your chai and almond milk aren’t sweetened – a bit of maple syrup or a few drops of liquid stevia would be perfect, you could also add 1 or 2 pitted dates

Shake over top:

1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
